BALOCHISTAN LOCAL COUNCILS ELECTION CELL
The Balochistan Local Councils Election Cell has been established under Section 18 of the Balochistan Local Government Act 2010 to perform such functions as are entrusted to it by the Government.

- Secretary Balochistan Local Councils Election Cell Supporting Staff
FUNCTIONS OF B.L.C.E CELL
- Delimitation of local areas and related matters thereof under the provisions of Balochistan Local Government Act, 2010.
- Cases/Petitions in the court of law pertaining to delimitation etc.
- Assistance to the Election Commission of Pakistan for conduct of Local Councils
- Elections as defined under the BLGA, 2010

FUNCTIONS OF BALOCHISTAN LOCAL COUNCILS ELECTION CELL
- All election related work of Local Government Department;
- Matters concerning declaration/constitution of local areas;
- Matters concerning divisions, amalgamation and reconstitution of Local Councils;
- Matters concerning determination of the seats of non-muslim peasants, workers and women;
- Matters concerning Housing & Population Census.
- Any other function assigned by the Department.
District Council:
- Chairmen of all Union Councils within the District Council as General Members.
- Women members equal to 33% of the general members
- Peasant members equal to 5% of the general members
- Worker members equal to 5% of the general members
- Non Muslims on basis of population (5%)(Section 219 of the Elections Act 2017 – Sec 16 of the BLGA 2010)
- The Election Commission to hold elections to the local governments within one hundred and twenty days of the expiry of the term of local government.

ROLE OF BLCEC REGARDING ELECTIONS
After the 18th Constitutional Amendment and promulgation of the Elections Act 2017, the role of the Balochistan Local Councils Election Cell is to coordinate, on behalf of the Provincial Government, with the Election Commission of Pakistan regarding conduct of delimitation of Local Councils, LG Elections as well as General Elections
Date of Election.
Date of Election to the Local Councils to be announced by the Election Commission in consultation with the Government.

Municipal Corporation:
- Chairmen of all urban union councils within each TMC as General members.
- Women members equal to 33% of the general members
- Peasant members equal to 5% of the general members
- Worker members equal to 5% of the general members
- Non Muslims on the basis of population (5%)(Section 219 of the Elections Act 2017 – Sec 16 of the BLGA 2010)
- The Election Commission to hold elections to the local governments within one hundred and twenty days of the expiry of the term of local government.

UPDATES ON LG ELECTIONS
- ECP conducted the delimitation of local councils in all the 36 districts of Balochistan under Sec 221 of the Elections Act 2017;
- Local governments elections have been conducted and local councils are in office in 35 districts (except Quetta);
- Schedule for conduct of local government elections in district Quetta has been challenged and the case is subjudice before the Balochistan High Court;
